In Conversation With Kelsey Ireland

On reinvention, creative ambition, and the unexpected paths that shape us.

Welcome back to the Ayro Edit. I’m your host, Ayra Rafiq.

I have been looking forward to this conversation for quite some time now. Joining me on the podcast today is Kelsey Ireland– a dear friend, mentor, and someone whom I have admired for a long time.

Kelsey is incredibly brilliant, thoughtful, and relevantly hardworking, and I have been fortunate enough to have known her for the past five years. Throughout her career, she has built a reputation for transforming ideas into impactful brands and creative strategies, and her career trajectory is a testament to what can happen when talent meets curiosity, resilience, and willingness to embrace change.

Kelsey is currently the Senior Director of Marketing, Creative & Operations at New Belgium Brewing and Bell’s Brewery, where she leads the teams shaping some of the most recognizable brands in craft beer. Kelsey has worked at the intersection of design, branding, and strategy, building creative systems that not only look beautiful but also solve real business challenges.

What I admire most about Kelsey isn’t just her impressive résumé; it is the way she has continuously reinvented herself. Following opportunities that have challenged her, inspired her, and ultimately shaped her to be the creative leader she is today.

Today’s conversation isn’t just about careers, milestones, or even titles. It is about reinvention. It is about the unexpected paths that continuously shape us, the moments that ask us to redefine success, and what it means to build a creative life that is authentic to who we are. From trading DC heels for bike treads to leading creative work on a national stage, Kelsey’s journey is a reminder that the best careers are rarely linear.

I’m so excited to sit down with someone I’ve known for years to talk about creativity, ambition, career pivots, and everything we learn along the way. Follow along as we explore that journey with her: the pivots, the lessons, and the unexpected paths that have defined her career.

So without further ado, here is my conversation with Kelsey Ireland.
